CCU RECREATIONAL VISION
The vision for CCU recreational coaches is to teach the game in an atmosphere that allows players to learn values. The characteristics of integrity, sportsmanship, teamwork, respect for others and self-discipline take priority over winning in all circumstances at CCU. Our belief in creating soccer players who prioritize these qualities on the pitch and in their community is our number one goal.
CCU PLAYER GOALS
ATTITUDE: Come to training ready to train. We are all here to play and learn soccer. It is necessary that we use the time we have to maximize our playing experience and abilities.
WORK ETHIC: Players give their best and push themselves and their teammates. Players focus on the task at hand. They try their best to execute the given skill to the highest level of proficiency. You play the way you practice.
PARENT EXPECTATIONS
CCU asks parents to promote a simple way to support their child while participating. We ask parents to use the phrase “I love watching you play” as a tool to align home with team ideals. Athletes do not need adults to question their actions, the actions of other players, or the coaches' decisions around strategy or playing time. These kinds of conversations can easily undermine the coach's authority and cause confusion and uncertainty for your child. To avoid this issue and to allow your child to be stress free from these thoughts, we ask you to support your child by…
- Saying “I love watching you play” after matches.
- Talking directly to the coach when there is an issue or concern.
- Encouraging your player to talk to the coach if they have questions or concerns.
- Talk to the Director of Coaching about an issue or concern.
We believe that these four simple steps will help promote the best athletic environment for your child.
AGE GROUPS
CCU uses the United States Youth Soccer (USYS) approved age groups for ALL players unless special circumstances warrant playing up or down. Any requests to have a child play up or down must be submitted in writing to the Director of Coaching for approval.
